Ok, i don't really get what you're trying to do, but i followed this thread and it seems you just want to upload something with transparency and DA is fugging up? I do know that DA does transparency better in.gif format, i found that out with my avatar, so if this was the problem and it's just for presentation purposes, just try that?

If i missed the point totally <------------ ignore plz ;)

This happens to me as well. It gets annoying, especially with start orbs. One thing I've noticed is that the "background" only seems to be applied to really tall or wide images, although that's probably just a coincidence.

I think ths may/could have something to do with the transparent layer in the original before its saved.. effects.. so on.. also could be because f multiple layers of transparency..RGB palette.. I have seen the same thing using Photoshop on Wndows .. so I am not for sure about it being specific to Linux.. I do know that if an image is not shown to be transparent or does not register transparency that dA will put the usual shadow and back ground.. I would look for differences..

In my gallery there are a few MW GLS submissions.. they have one layer of transparency and work great.. If you look at some of my screenshots and the wallpaper preview I made.. the supposed last layer of transparency is darkened by the dA background.. and that is the only difference between them.. So I would be willing to try to make the CAD skin solid.. and switch it out to see if it changes..

i think i get what you mean. do you think flattening the layers before saving would make a difference? i never thought about that. i thought that when you save a png with photoshop it automatically saves them all the same way

It might.. I dunno.. all of mine are not flattened beforehand.. all layer in tact and saved as PSD.. then converted in Fireworks to PNG ( for some files ) then opened in Ps and saved again as it usually saves in a nice size stripping layer information from the file.. but sometimes I make final additions or adjustments.. then save.. but I have never flattened one to see.. If I get time I will check it out.. OR if you get to it first let me know.. :)

We'll be the only two on dA .. LOL Would totally make sense though...

The cursor one?

The only common thing I have noticed about all of these images are a 32 Bit Color Depth.. in the properties of these files...

Next would be to convert it.. not for sure if that would be it.. I always use RGB32 unless I am color matching something and have to use a tool that uses RGB8 to get it exact.. and I am not totally for sure about that nor.. have I tried tweaking the colors and transparency in Fw.. ( too many configuration notes.. )
