since i'm back on windows obviously i had to install some classics and shoot guys with my sixaxis using a combination of motioninjoy(drivers), xpadder(key mapping + left stick deadzone tweaking), and joytokey(the smoothness and responsiveness of the right stick is far superior using joytokey than it is using xpadder) i can snipe a fast mover from 1000m or 2m using my thumb and i'll bet money i do it just as fast as any mouse humper. i'm passionate about my sticks. configured right its better than your gay ass mouse, fanboy. what's that?..you need a whole goddamn desk and a fucking switchboard to shoot a bitch? you're gay  a mouse/keyboard.

back on topic, i use a lot of stuff on my system. lots of ui prettification. that won't do when you're running a game. so what you do is create an alternate user account and turn off everything that isn't the game! try it out if you game on windows.

does anyone know of a better way to perfectly emulate say, cod(ps3) style aiming? using the aforementioned setup my stick is basically that fast and that smooth.. obviously with the variable fps on windows (as opposed to a box dedicated to gaming) it can sometimes feel twitchy but i can shoot as well as on ps3 i guess is my point. if you know of any other key mapping apps let me know =D

hehe never got used to aim with anything except mouse.. not touchpads, tablets, gamepads etc.. but I guess its cause I am so addicted to mouse and prefer over the others.. anyway, I stopped playing these action games in the spring, so I can have more free time.. now I just play those strategies and sport sometimes, and I am honestly happy with those..

farcry, quake 4, tribes vengeance.. i'll probably get fear and hl2. maybe see if i can get doom 3 working on this system. i don't have a gfx card so i can only do so much. no current gen games are going to play with a tolerable frame rate.

you really should get hl2 and all of it's episodes, also you should get portal 2 (I never played the first one); do you play multiplayer shooters?

oh i love hl2.. the main assault rifle.. the one you find on the combine, the one that that guy demonstrates at the end of the last episode at white forest, and that dude says that in the city he used to take out 15 hunters a day with his bare hands ROFL
there is nothing more satisfying than shooting that weapon. =D i love the thump it makes and the way it handles. the feedback is just awesome. i could go on about that game like an obsessed fanboy.

i don't do multiplayer much anymore. i was in kz3 for a while but haven't gotten back into it since psn went down. if tribes: ascend is released on ps3... i won't make themes anymore. i'll drop out of school and work at mcdonnalds to make just enough money to support playing tribes.

Yea that weapon in hl2 was probably my favorite just b/c of the way it sounds and functions. I pretty much like every weapon though as they're all great and each has a function. I remember that quote and if you stay there longer him and the other guy get in an argument, it's quite hilarious. That game is awesome and I enjoy replaying it every time, can't wait for the next episode.

As for multiplayer you should try out Quake Live. It's free and is fun, nothing has changed except for added maps and weapons. You should really give it a try.

I'd say run a timed demo on each of the levels and see what your max fps is averaged across them. Once you know that you can set the maximum fps that will render using the "com_maxfps" command without the quotes. That way you won't have moments where your input seems laggy or really smooth due to low or really high frame rate. You might have to play around with it for a while to get it just right. Also turning on Vsync might actually help in this regard as well.

On a side note do you play Battlefield: Bad Company 2?

never played it. i don't think my vaio can handle it ;) i've been playing quake 4 and that's pretty much the limit. its a 2009 model but no gfx card.

so i'm assuming max fps can only be set for specific games? i searched a bit for quake 4 and found some stuff about the 60 cap but nothing about setting max =( thanks for the info tho =D

I don't see how people can do anything with precision with a gamepad. I guess everyone's different :P

i'm not going to lie, it takes dedication to master the thumb stick, but it's worth it to be able to sit on your couch and game without some crazy rig on your lap or something lol
