i just, i love this set up so, so much. this is GenTop2 on Motorola Atrix 4G using Greybird GTK + XFWM + Faenza

Seriously, Moto owes these guys money. They single handedly made the lapdock worth the money. altho at this point the only ones left are the remaining inventory moto let go wholesale that have been bouncing around the net for months.. it's still a sexy slim light fanless 8 hour linux laptop powered by a pocket size dual core computer tho. obviously performance ain't got shit on an ultrabook, but i ain't got $1k either

what do you mean? most of my time lately is spent gaming and doing homework so i haven't spent much time being creative. i should probably minimize my time in games lol

Looks great!
Quick question: is Greybird in GenTop2 by default?

no. and the murrine gtk engine doesn't play nice with the mobile view window. whenever a murrine theme is applied it will crash, so murrine themes and mobile view won't work simultaneously. i don't use mobile view tho ;)

Ah ok, interesting to know. I had never heard of GenTop2 before.
Anyway, just as a short note: I based the scrollbars on Greybird originally on your "a Preview"-mockup (aka Resin) visually, but they changed a bit over time. Currently I'm working on a dark theme, it's not exactly easy to get things right there.
If you ever want to cooperate on something or help me with Xubuntu's artwork in any way, let me know!

i'm browsing the shimmer site and found your gmusicbrowser mod. is that available, cause it looks awesome! =D
i'd very much like to test it, but compiling it in gentoo (gentop2) on my phone will likely be very tricky for me. i would kind of like to contribute but i'm not much of a team player.. modding an app like gmusicbrowser is far beyond my skill level. i wouldn't know where to start.

Yeah, basically you can run gmusicbrowser and use the "Shimmer Desktop" layout, it's now included upstream (that's why the page got kinda quiet and a little outdated).
We're still providing packages in a ppa for Ubuntu users and it's shipped by default in Xubuntu. You can also try to just grab the source from github, no need to compile, simply run "perl gmusicbrowser.pl" ;)

It's less about modding apps but about creating/maintaining themes. Currently I/we have three (Albatross, Bluebird, Greybird) and I'm creating a fourth one at the moment (Blackbird). All but Greybird could use a visual refresh and some more maintenance (Gtk3 is a pita sometimes).

But there are also other projects you could get involved in or take over, like Xubuntu's icons (currently we forked elementary and extended it for Xfce/Xubuntu).

Then you can also just provide feedback on the existing artwork or design new things.

Btw, maybe it's better to continue via email or IRC :)

Last comment for now: if you feel like helping out with Xubuntu in any way, feel free to get in touch with me (email should be easy enough to find on shimmerproject.org).

Couldn't find yours though (which is why I didn't write although I kinda announced it in the previous post) :)

i'd actually like to help out a little when i can. i've wanted to try my hand at gtk3 theming for a while, but i only barely mastered gtk2 when gtk3 started hitting the scene =)
currently i'm finishing classes and they take priority over everything. but i'd like to get a dev box set up and start looking over the themes. i'll shoot you an email later this week
